There are many good window locks on the market with many of the leading manufacturers producing them, with the likes of CHUBB, YALE, UNION, BRAMHA, BANHAM, INGERSOLL, ERA and ASEC

Fit locks which secure the frames together in preference to locks which simply secure the handle or stay bar. Casement windows, by their very design, need to be locked by securing the window to the frame. Most casement locks are screwed to the window rather than the frame - a weaker system. There are locks which are fixed to the frame and these are probably more secure, as well as being easy to use.

Whether you fit sliding window locks, upvc window locks, aluminium locks or any other type of window lock. Make sure they are fitted properly and that your insurance company will accept any locks recommended.

For wooden window casements outward opening, our recommendations would be the CHUBB 8K101, this is an easy lock to fit and is very secure, ERA also make a lock for the same purpose the ERA 809.

For metal or aluminium windows there is the equivalent to the above the CHUBB 8K106 and the ERA 903.

There are many other window security locks on the market for these type of windows but these locks are easy to obtain and easy to fit.

For wooden window box sashes there are a number of security window locks on the market, the ones our company use can vary on what the sashes are, the most common one is the CHUBB/ERA dual screw it is advised to fit one either side of the sash window for better security, especially on accessible windows, these locks are ideal if you have horns on the window.

But! For ventilation and security the INGERSOLL SW66 security window lock is ideal.
